29 October Republic Day message from MHP Chairman Bahçeli
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli published a message on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day.
In his message, Bahçeli stated that the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, the symbol of independence and sovereignty, on October 29, 1923, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement and said, "The Republic is not only a change in the form of government for us, but also the registration of our will to exist as an ancient nation in the modern period and its declaration to the world." he said.
Pointing out that, for the Turks, the end of the 19th century was the period when the pain of collapse of the Ottoman Empire, which was in the grip of imperialism, was felt heavily, Bahçeli said:
"The beginning of the 20th century corresponds to the struggle against this and the establishment and institutionalization of the Republic of Turkey as a national state. It would be very appropriate to express this situation with the following words of the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: "A ruined country on the edge of the cliff. Bloody fights with various enemies. War that lasted for years. After that, a new homeland, a new society and a new state, recognized with respect both inside and outside..."
Emphasizing that the Republic is, first of all, a struggle for independence and future for the Turkish nation, Bahçeli said, "It is a modern form of government adopted as a result of the nation's struggle for independence against these occupations when the Anatolian lands were occupied by enemy states after the First World War. It is the Turks' interpretation of the era with determination and effort and the application of the form of government they find ideal for themselves to the life of the state and nation. It brings to mind their passion for freedom without trampling on the high dignity and honor of the Turkish nation." "Their embroidery is stitch by stitch." he said.
Noting that the Republic in Turkey was the work of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Bahçeli said:
"Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk defended full independence against the ideas of mandate and patronage put forward during the armistice period, when Anatolian lands were occupied by enemy states and the Turkish presence there was tried to be destroyed. While defending unconditional full independence, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk adopted the principle of the Turkish nation living as a dignified and honorable nation, and wholeheartedly believed that this principle could be achieved by having full independence." "The Turkish nation chose the slogan of independence or death for real salvation. With the first step taken in Samsun, with a decisive decision in Amasya and a definitive declaration in Erzurum, the Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened in Ankara with the decisions that gained a national character in Sivas, and finally the process resulted in the declaration of the Republic."
Bahçeli, the Republic declared on October 29, 1923; He stated that it formed the basis of all subsequent achievements of the Turkish nation, that it enabled the different reform movements carried out over time to be shaped in the context of this thought, and that it charted a new path for innovations in the political, social, cultural and legal fields.
