3 new life hopes emerged from one death

E.M., who was treated in the Anesthesia Intensive Care Unit, died 4 days later despite the doctors' interventions.

After E.M's family approved organ donation, two of his kidneys were sent to the patient waiting for transplant in Trabzon and his liver in Istanbul.

Stating that organ donation is of vital importance for patients waiting for transplant, Ulusoy said, "The decision of a single family offered a new life opportunity to three people who had been connected to machines for years or were on the verge of death at any moment." he said.

Ulusoy stated that 25 patients were diagnosed with brain death in the first 8 months of 2026 at KTÜ Farabi Hospital, and the families of 6 of them approved organ donation.

Stating that there were 6 donors in the whole of last year, Ulusoy stated that reaching the same number in 8 months of this year indicates an increase in organ donation on an institutional basis.

Ulusoy pointed out that 130 people lost their lives this year in 8 provinces under Samsun Regional Coordination Office and the organs of 29 of them were donated, and stated that approximately one in every 5 families approved the donation.
