Approximately 52 million people were examined in family physicians in Istanbul.

While efforts to strengthen primary health care services in the city continue, family physicians provide services in many areas, from preventive health services to cancer and childhood screenings.

In this context, while approximately 460 thousand people were screened for cancer between January 1 and July 31, approximately 1500 people who did not have any symptoms or complaints were diagnosed with cancer.

Approximately 2 million people were directed directly to specialist doctor appointments in hospitals through their family physicians, without applying to MHRS.

Of the 130 million 400 thousand examinations performed in the city in the same period, 51 million 845 thousand 321 were performed in family physicians, revealing the share of primary health care services in total health services.

Istanbul Provincial Health Director Assoc. Prof. made evaluations within the scope of Public Health Week, celebrated every year between 3-9 September. Dr. Abdullah Emre Güner said that Türkiye has experienced a significant change in the field of health with the Health Transformation Program implemented under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan since 2002.

Güner stated that in this process, a significant transformation has been achieved in many areas in Istanbul, from bed capacity to technological infrastructure, from diagnosis and treatment services to preventive health services.

Güner noted that Istanbul's health services provide services not only to those living in the city, but also to patients from all over Türkiye and different countries of the world.
