Domestic technology move in health: Robotic surgery device will be produced in Türkiye

Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, Prof. at the "Meeting with Young People" event held on the first day of the 12th Turkish Medical World Congress. Dr. He took part as a moderator together with Aziz Sancar and Selçuk Bayraktar.

Minister Memişoğlu touched upon the importance of being idealistic at the event where young people answered their questions and said, "Idealism is actually happiness. Because an ideal person is a person who has a goal. He knows why he lives. Idealism is the source of happiness along with dedication. I always express this. People should be idealists."

Reminding the young people that they are representatives of the civilization of goodness, Minister of Health Memişoğlu said, "You are the representatives of the civilization of goodness, its heirs. Our civilization has not done evil to anyone, has not exploited anyone, has not destroyed anyone. It is a civilization of goodness."

Pointing out that goodness should be strong, Minister Memişoğlu said, "If evil prevails, it is not the fault of evil, it is because goodness is not strong and powerful. That is why we will be united, we will embrace, we will produce, we will be strong so that evil cannot do its evil."

Minister of Health Memişoğlu gave advice to young people based on his experiences and said, "You have to make mistakes. You can make mistakes. Do not make the same mistake twice. Because after making the same mistake twice, you will regret it. I tried not to make the same mistake twice."

Referring to the studies on informatics and robotic surgery technologies in the field of health, Minister Kemal Memişoğlu noted that, as the Ministry, they are carrying out studies in these areas and that they aim to develop the informatics infrastructure through TÜSEB. Stating that Turkey has been collecting health data with a completely electronic system infrastructure with e-Pulse since 2015, Minister Memişoğlu stated that by processing this data, they will work to become one of the countries that use artificial intelligence best in the world in the field of health.

Minister Memişoğlu stated that behind his belief that Turkey can develop robotic surgery technology is the self-confidence of young people and scientists, and said, "We can do this, we say we will do it. This is actually the result of the role model of you, TEKNOFEST youth, and my teacher Selçuk." Minister Memişoğlu emphasized that young people trained in the fields of robotic surgery and informatics at TEKNOFEST are an important source of energy for them.

Inviting young people to develop innovative ideas, Minister of Health Memişoğlu stated that the concept of "don't invent things for us" is over and said, "And we say to you, invent us, invent us." Explaining that they created the Productive Health Portal so that ideas can be transformed into products, Minister Memişoğlu said, "We created a portal called uretensaglik.gov.tr. When you enter, you will express your idea. We will directly give you the patent of that idea."
