Domestic technology that offers doctors a virtual rehearsal before surgery
Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST), of which TRT is a communication partner and carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation, welcomes its visitors at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
MetaTip Health Technologies, which is made available to medical faculty students in some university hospitals with the approval of the Ministry of Health, is also introduced to visitors at the stand in the festival area.
Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK-supported "MetaMedical Project", MRI data are converted into 3D models and doctors are offered the opportunity to examine and simulate in a virtual environment before surgery.
Stating that the system can work with one-to-one accuracy, Şanverdi said:
"Here, we transfer the DICOM (a standard file format in which data from medical imaging devices such as X-ray, MRI and CT) data taken in normal MRI are stored to the virtual environment in 3D and allow the doctors to examine it there. After the doctors examine it, if there is a lesion on it, they can detect it, make volumes, take measurements, and we do this with exact accuracy."
Stating that the system can also be controlled remotely, Şanverdi said, "There is no need for the doctor to be at the patient's side. Here, the patient is simulated. In other words, it is a pre-operative simulation."
