Infinite flow trap on social media
The internet, which people once went to cafes to access, was a virtual environment where a lot of information that was not easily accessible in the past was presented together and data could be recorded more easily compared to physical methods.
In addition to these features, the internet, which allows communication with close friends from far away and allows people who have not previously met each other to get to know each other, allowed sometimes dozens, sometimes hundreds of people who were unaware of each other to participate in the same computer game.
In the early 2000s, many people accessed these opportunities in internet cafes that they visited for only 1-2 hours a month or a week, and when they left this establishment, they left the virtual world behind.
Approximately 10 years later, a significant portion of the society has access to computers and internet connections at home, making participating in virtual social networks no longer an "outside activity" but accessible from home.
In these years when social media was just "sprouted", the internet was still accessible at a certain time of the day and in a certain part of the house. Communication was at the center rather than sharing on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (X), which had not yet become an "indispensable" part of daily life.
"What's going on?" is still included in the text sharing section on X and Facebook. and “What do you think?” The phrases can be evaluated as traces remaining from the communication-based social media approach that dominated that period.
As users continue to share what they are thinking and what is going on around them, the dominant trend on social media is now centered around “where they go” and “what they do.”
It has become the "new normal" for young and old people, who have become part of this trend because they are afraid of missing what is happening in the virtual world, to constantly report what they have acquired and done.
