Local heart and lung machine was used in open heart surgeries in Gaziantep

The second clinical application center of the device, which was developed by ASELSAN and whose first clinical application was carried out at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, was GAÜN Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital.

In one of the surgeries performed within the scope of the clinical study, a three-vessel bypass was applied to the patient, and in another, the heart valve was replaced with a minimally invasive method.

It was stated that the device, which temporarily assumes the role of the heart and lungs during open heart surgeries, was used successfully in the operations.

Doğan stated that it is important for one of the clinical applications of the device to be carried out at Gaziantep University in terms of developing local and national health technologies.

TÜSEB President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan also stated that the heart-lung machine was developed with the contribution of healthcare professionals and engineers as a result of approximately three years of work.
