MİT President Kalın: None of us are safe until we are all safe

A special session titled "Turkish World and Future Imagination from the Perspective of Civilization" was held within the scope of the "Turkish World Dialogue Forum" organized by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications.

Moderated by Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Board Member Prof. Kalın, who attended the special session undertaken by Dr. Kılıç Buğra Kanat, stated that the three main axes of thought that unite the ancient Central Asian geography of the Turks and carry them to the present day are the state mind, language and consensus.

Emphasizing that intensive efforts are still being made today to build and enrich the climate of the Union, Kalın said that the three main goals of the vision of the Organization of Turkish States are national value unity, language and consensus, and a broad horizon in understanding differences.

Kalın stated that when we look at the wide Turkish geography, it can be seen that cultural differences and the culture of coexistence are still maintained at the highest level, and that a new page was opened in Central Asian Turkish history with the Turkish republics gaining their independence in 1991.

Pointing out that the Turkish world has taken important steps in many issues in the process so far, Kalın said, "The highest level and institutional structure of this was the Organization of Turkic States Summit, which was held for the 13th time in Ankara today." he said.

Kalın said, "The Turkish world, which has an area of ​​approximately 4.8 million square kilometers, a population of nearly 200 million and an economic power of 2.17 trillion dollars, makes very important contributions to global peace within this wide geography extending from Central Asia to the Caucasus, from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to the Eastern Mediterranean and Hungary." he said.

Evaluating that all these developments have made the Central Asian Turkish geography a region to be followed, Kalın said, "From time to time, we see that ideas about this place being perceived as a different alternative, threat or rival to other countries and environments come to the fore. As a basic principle, I would like to state that the Organization of Turkish States does not pose a threat to any third party, and is based on an eye-level relationship with every actor and every geography, based on equal, mutual interest." he said.

Referring to the transformation of the countries that gained independence after the collapse of the USSR, Kalın said, "When we look at the level of economic development that Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have reached today, their key role in energy security and other areas, the past 40 years have not been in vain. The leaders worked really hard and made development moves by keeping their countries safe, peaceful and stable." he said.
