10-month export record of all time from the chemical industry

While Türkiye's October exports amounted to 25.9 billion dollars, the chemicals and products sector continued its strong performance in exports.

The sector, which achieved exports of 3 billion 14 million dollars in October with an increase of 13.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reached a new record in the first 10 months of the year.

In the January-October period, chemical exports increased by 7 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 28.8 billion dollars. Thus, the sector reached its highest export level in the first 10 months to date.

The chemical industry, which managed to increase its exports despite the uncertainties in global trade and difficult conditions in foreign markets, continues its work towards its year-end target of 35 billion dollars.

Istanbul Chemicals and Products Exporters' Association (IKMIB) Chairman Vefa Ibrahim Araci stated that the chemical industry showed a strong performance by exporting over 3 billion dollars with an increase of 13.7 percent in October, and that they achieved the highest exports in the January-October period in history, reaching 28.8 billion dollars in the first 10 months of the year.

Noting that this result they achieved was extremely valuable in a period when uncertainties in the global economy, protectionist tendencies in trade and competitive conditions were getting worse, he said, "We think that in our new management period, we have started to see the positive reflections of our efforts to increase the competitiveness of our exporters, strengthen our position in existing markets and open up to alternative markets."

Noting that their priority in the coming period will be to make this growth momentum permanent and to further the export potential of the chemical industry, Nakit said:

"The production capacity, product diversity and export experience that our sector has in different sub-sectors constitute our most important strength. As İKMİB, we will continue our work with determination to ensure that our companies take a more effective place in international markets and to increase value-added production and exports. We will mobilize all our resources in the remaining two months of the year in order to reach our 35 billion dollar export target that we have set for the end of the year."
