235 billion TL for agricultural subsidies from the budget
According to the compilation made from the 2027 Central Government Budget Law Proposal, the resources allocated from the budget for the agricultural sector are increasing every year.
In this context, in the budget proposal, the resources allocated to agriculture were increased by 416.8 billion lira compared to the 2026 budget. According to the proposal, approximately 1 trillion 305 billion liras will be allocated to agriculture for 2027.
The amount allocated from the budget for agricultural support programs also increased from 168 billion lira to 235 billion lira. The amount of investment allowances allocated for the agricultural sector next year was 268 billion lira.
The budget proposal included an appropriation of 325 billion lira for agricultural credit support, 342 billion lira for agricultural sector tax expenditures, and 135 billion lira for the financing of agricultural SOEs, intervention purchases and export supports.
On the other hand, the budget allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for 2027 was determined as 760.6 billion lira. The appropriation allocated to the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, which is the largest investor organization in the field of agriculture, for 2027 was increased from 233 billion lira to 324 billion lira.
Fehmi Kiraz, Chairman of the Turkish Association of Agricultural Engineers, stated that 888 billion liras of resources were allocated to the agricultural sector last year, and that this amount was increased by approximately 47 percent to 1 trillion 305 billion liras in the 2027 budget.
Stating that direct agricultural supports have increased by nearly 40 percent, Kiraz said, "Considering the general inflation target of 21 percent for 2027, the increase in agricultural supports above this will definitely affect the farmers positively. This increase is welcomed by us. Supports are not the main source of income of the farmer, they are a driving force. Essentially, the issues that will increase the input cost should be addressed. Formulating the product cost and product price in a way that will provide profit to the producer is important for the sustainability of production." he said.
Kiraz stated that product prices were lower than expected this year, especially fruits were sold at lower prices compared to previous years, and said, "We hope that the 181 percent increase in the intervention purchases budget of SOEs is to prevent these fluctuations next year. If the intervention is made on time, it will bring profit for the farmers." he said.
