The effects of the global climate crisis on the agricultural sector remain on the agenda. For sustainable food supply, it is important that agricultural production is not interrupted and producers are financially protected.

The State Supported Agricultural Insurance System provides assurance to producers and growers with comprehensive coverage and up to 70 percent state premium support.

Within the scope of the system, as of October, 1.5 trillion liras of agricultural assets were insured, 2.4 million policies were produced, 27 million decares of land and 25.5 million cattle and sheep were insured.

While agricultural lands across the country were damaged this year due to disasters caused by climate change, the natural disaster that caused the most damage was floods.

The damages caused by agricultural frost occurred at a regional level, unlike last year.

Hail events were effective in Şanlıurfa, Adana and Mersin in May and June. Storm-related damage also occurred in these provinces. Lentils, wheat and barley products from the field crops and grain group were affected by floods, hail and storms, and peach and nectarine fruits were affected by hail. Grape and apricot products were damaged by low-intensity hail and frost.

Damages caused by storms and hail occurred in Samsun, Yozgat, Çorum, Tokat, Kars, Edirne and Manisa in July, and floods and landslides occurred in Samsun, Çorum and Giresun in August.

In many regions of the country, the increase in corn and sunflower damage reports, especially due to the damage caused by wild animals, attracted attention.
