91.7 billion lira of smuggled goods and drugs in customs

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Customs Enforcement teams, as one of the main actors in the fight against smuggling, continue their work meticulously by improving their practices every day.

As a result of the work carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams with their advanced risk analysis systems, technological control infrastructure and expert personnel, important results were achieved in terms of protecting the country's economic security, preventing unfair competition, preserving public health and fighting against criminal organizations.

In the operations they carried out in 9 months, the teams seized 52.6 tons of drugs, 981 thousand 144 electrical and electronic goods, 1 million 805 thousand pieces of machinery, 5 million 692 thousand pieces of medical equipment, as well as a wide range of smuggled goods, from tobacco products to historical artifacts, from fuel to textile materials.

Commercial goods and drugs worth 9 billion 760 million liras were seized by Customs Enforcement units during operations in September.

During the operations carried out in September, 2.9 tons of drugs, 584 thousand 779 pieces of medical equipment, 533 tons of 281 kilograms of fuel and 53 thousand 304 electrical and electronic goods were seized.

According to the statement, the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce do not allow any type of smuggling that harms the country's economy, disrupts commercial operations by creating an unfair competition environment, threatens public health and especially tries to drag young people into addiction.

With the awareness of the responsibility assumed by the Presidency with the declaration of the period 2026-2035 as the "Decade of Family and Population", Customs Enforcement teams continue to fight against smuggling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the health and future of the nation, in order to protect and strengthen the family, which is the basis of society, from all kinds of harmful elements, and to secure the physical and psychological integrity of children, especially in the developmental age.
