Anatomy of Israeli Expansion Report from CBD
President of the National Intelligence Academy, Prof., who wrote the foreword of the report. Dr. Talha Köse pointed out that Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza, its de facto annexation of the West Bank and its aggression extending to Lebanon and Syria have led to a security crisis on a global scale.
Stating that Israel is seeking to expand from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, Köse stated that the two-state solution has practically been dragged into a deadlock. Köse, who revealed the fundamental difference between the security paradigms of Türkiye and Israel, made the following assessment;
Turkey's understanding of security; It is based on strengthening the sovereignty, territorial integrity and institutional capacities of the regional states. Israel, on the other hand, builds its security on the fact that the actors around it remain weak, fragmented and open to external interventions.
The report stated that Israel is trying to legitimize its expansionist ambitions with theological arguments, and that the radical right and fanatic settler movements, which were on the periphery of politics, are now at the center of state mechanisms and bureaucracy.
The report emphasizes that expansionism is not limited to the current government, but has been transformed into a permanent state policy with legal and institutional regulations; It was underlined that even a possible change of government may not be enough to end this strategy on its own. It was also noted that the period after October 7 created a critical break in Israel's long-term strategy and took its occupation policy to "a new phase that turned into genocide in Gaza."
It was determined that Israel's advanced technology and military power enable it to operate in distant geographies, but it is not enough to sustain a long-term and high-intensity war on its own.
In the report, which stated that the Israel-Iran tension revealed Tel Aviv's structural military dependence on the USA, an important warning was included about the future of this support: It was stated that the deep reactions caused by the genocide in Gaza, especially among the younger generations in the USA, raised serious question marks in terms of the sustainability of Washington's unconditional support to Israel.
The report also states that although Israel's military superiority may provide tactical and short-term gains, it cannot turn into a permanent regional hegemony; On the contrary, it was stated that it would push regional actors towards alternative security cooperation.
