Cevdet Yılmaz: We aim to advance economic integration with TDT
Vice President Yılmaz attended the "Turkish World Dialogue Forum" organized by the Presidential Directorate of Communications in Ankara on the margins of the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
Speaking here, Yılmaz emphasized that the Turkish world is a big family where brother peoples, the heirs of a common civilization whose roots go back centuries, are connected to each other by language, history, culture and bonds of love, and said that TDT is the basic platform that carries this historical closeness to the institutional ground and allows the common future to be shaped together.
Stating that they will carry out the term presidency, which Türkiye will take over from sister Azerbaijan at today's Ankara Summit, with the understanding of transforming the institutional accumulation created so far into concrete gains for the stability, development and welfare of the countries, Yılmaz said, "We aim to strengthen our political consultations, advance our economic integration, and develop our energy and transportation connections. We have a comprehensive agenda from the Middle Corridor's creation of multi-dimensional connectivity to the diversification of energy supply systems, from the defense industry to science and technology. Digital transformation, education and "We will also give new impetus to our joint work in cultural fields." he said.
Yılmaz stated that while consolidating the achievements in traditional areas of cooperation, they have expanded joint efforts to new areas in line with changing needs and emerging new challenges, and said, "In this process, we attach special importance to strengthening the participation of women in social, economic and political life. The TDT Family and Women Council High Honor Board Meeting, which will be held today under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, is an important step taken in this direction." he said.
Pointing out that today, countries' influence in the international arena is shaped by their economic size and military capacity, as well as their ability to produce information, disseminate correct information and make their own voice heard to the world, Yılmaz said:
"While digital communication opportunities facilitate access to information, disinformation, manipulation and misleading content can damage the trust between societies and international relations. As states and societies, we have to be very alert about disinformation and manipulation. This situation makes it more important than ever for the Turkish world to address common issues from its own perspective and strengthen the circulation of accurate, reliable information.
We develop our cooperation in the field of media within TDT through regular meetings of our Ministers Responsible for Information and Media, the Media Coordination Committee and relevant working groups. In addition to the regulations aimed at improving cooperation between our public broadcasting organizations, the Turkish News Agencies Association was established in 2023. The action plan adopted at the Media and Information Ministers Meeting held in Baku in 2025 has also brought a new framework to our joint work. "We aim to increase the resistance and international visibility of the Turkic World against disinformation by making more effective use of these mechanisms in the coming period."
Yılmaz reminded that the guidelines for the use of the 34-letter Common Turkish Alphabet, developed under the coordination of TDT, were accepted in Astana in June, and said that this step will facilitate communication between peoples and further strengthen language and cultural ties.
