Citizens get solid houses in Maltepe

Within the scope of the work carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, new residences were prepared for eligible citizens in the Kardeşler Apartment Building and surrounding buildings, which collapsed on October 8 in the Cevizli District of Maltepe district of Istanbul.

Urban Transformation Directorate met with all rights holders within 9 days and offered two options to citizens. Accordingly, as of October 28, citizens will be able to receive the keys of the new residences in the IETT Blocks in Esenkent District or have their houses rebuilt in the same place under the coordination of the Urban Transformation Directorate. Citizens were also shown around sample flats.

With the rapid completion of the work, the keys will be delivered to citizens who prefer ready-made flats 20 days after the collapse. In both options, beneficiaries will be offered favorable payment terms spanning the long term.

Eyüp Tuzcu, one of the beneficiaries who toured the sample flats, said, "I was living in flat number 5 in Kardesler Apartment. Our government showed a very quick reflex. They said, 'We will build it as soon as possible and get you to your homes.' If you do not want it, they offered the finished residences here in our Esenkent Neighborhood. They showed us around today. It is very nice. If you do not want to wait and say 'I am in a hurry, you can use this place too'. They made an offer to us. Both 2+1 and "There were 3+1 flats. We visited all of them. May God bless all of them. They took care of us, they never left us unattended. They made us feel that we were not alone."

Zeliha İnan said, "We liked it very much, it's nice. Plus, this place is better for us, that is, it's wider. We liked this place. I don't know, my daughters decide. They say, 'Buy, buy, buy from here'. We'll see, it's our luck. Time will tell. They immediately took care of it, look, they were helped. No one was victimized, it was nice."
