DMM refutes allegations that 'AFAD divers have collectively stepped down'
In the statement made by DMM, it was stated that the allegations made in some media outlets and social media channels do not reflect the truth.
In the statement, it was stated that AFAD's underwater search and rescue teams work uninterruptedly on a 24/7 basis in 81 provinces, and the following was noted:
"The teams are capable of responding to incidents in terms of the number of personnel, technical equipment and competence. There are currently no personnel who have left their duties or diving activities. Inter-regional assignments made when necessary are not an inadequacy, but a normal requirement of holistic disaster management.
In addition to AFAD teams across Türkiye, the General Directorate of Security, Gendarmerie General Command and Coast Guard Command also have diving teams and all units are dispatched to the field in full coordination. "We are kindly requested not to pay attention to such unfounded posts and perception operations targeting our institutions and heroic personnel who work at the expense of their lives in disasters and emergencies."
