Financial asset requirement for qualified investors increased to 50 million lira

CMB's press release regarding the update of the total amount of financial assets of qualified investors and the announcement, principles and decisions dated 26 October 2026 were published on the board's website.

In the announcement, it was stated that at today's meeting of the Board Decision-making Body, it was decided to update the total amount of financial assets required for those who will be considered professional customers, which is 10 million lira, to 50 million lira, and the transaction volume amount, which is 5 million lira, to 25 million lira, based on the demand in the regulations regarding investment institutions.

Within the framework of these changes, the announcement stated that the qualified investor conditions, which are included in various CMB communiqués and regulated by reference to professional investor regulations, have been updated, and the following was noted:

"The exception introduced by the Principle Decision No. i-SPK.37.7 (dated 18/12/2025 and 65/2354 s.k.) has been abolished for qualified investors to whom the participation shares of real estate investment funds and venture capital investment funds will be sold. These investors will also be subject to the amounts stipulated for the generality of qualified investors in the current legislation. In this context, including those who invest in the participation shares of real estate investment funds and venture capital investment funds, as stated in the legislation before the date of the Board's decision. "Customers who have gained the title of professional customers and qualified investors due to the financial amounts included in the transaction must first certify to the investment institution they work with in writing or electronically that they meet the conditions required by the legislation; otherwise, customers who have capital market instruments that qualified investors can trade in will only be able to place sales orders for the capital market instruments in question."

In the announcement, it was stated that if customers who have gained the title of qualified investors fall below the financial amounts stipulated in the legislation in the period after gaining this title, the procedure in Article 30 of the Investment Institutions Communiqué and Article 9 of the Communiqué numbered III-5.2 will be followed.
