Foreign Ministry welcomes Libyan House of Representatives' decision to reconcile

The Libyan House of Representatives approved the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of National Accord and Türkiye regarding the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas in the Mediterranean.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also made a written statement regarding this approved decision.

The statement welcomed the decision and included the following:

"We welcome the decision adopted today by the Libyan House of Representatives regarding the Memorandum of Understanding on the Delimitation of Maritime Jurisdiction Areas between Türkiye and Libya, which has been in force since 2019.

The Memorandum of Understanding in question protects the mutual rights and interests of the two countries on the basis of international law and equity principles and contributes to the further deepening of the cooperation between our countries.

"In line with its respectful attitude to international law, Türkiye will continue its will to work with all partners to ensure trust, stability and peace in the Mediterranean basin."
