Gaza call from Minister Gürlek to OECD countries Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, O
In his speech at the 2026 OECD Equal Access to Justice Global Roundtable Meeting held at a hotel in Beşiktaş, Minister Gürlek expressed his satisfaction with the OECD bringing together the participants based on the fact that justice is the basis of economic development.
Recalling the International Justice Summit held in Istanbul on 8-9 October, Gürlek stated that, with participants from different countries, they discussed the common responsibility of providing justice services without delay and fairly, placing human dignity at the center, and achieved extremely beneficial results.
Gürlek reminded that Palestinian Minister of Justice Sherhabil El-Zaim, who was invited to the meeting in question but was not allowed to leave the country by the Israeli government, could not attend, and stated that this situation once again declared before the world public opinion the Israeli government's disrespect for the universal justice system.
Referring to the process leading to the establishment of the OECD, Minister Gürlek said, "OECD is an important association that makes serious efforts for the development of the world and the prosperity of societies. It has provided serious support, in particular, to strengthening Europe's place in the world economy and setting an example with its development models." he said.
Pointing out that, at this point today, Europe needs the effective presence of the OECD more than ever, Gürlek said, "The youth movements emerging in France these days, the unrest caused by the high cost of living and the social effects of these events throughout Europe, the wars and tensions that have been going on for years in Eastern Europe, the rise of the far right especially in Europe, increasing risks related to energy costs and economic stagnation are important developments that put pressure on the global economy." made his assessment.
Emphasizing that these developments increase unrest and future anxiety in societies, and put at risk the universal values adopted by developed societies, Gürlek said that in these days when many human values have difficulty finding a response in life, this situation increases the risk of encountering more serious problems and negatively affects people's expectations regarding access to justice.
