Illegal betting and criminal organization operation based in 3 provinces: 150 detentions

In his statement on his social media account, Minister Gürlek emphasized that the fight against structures that disrupt the peace of the nation, direct young people to crime and provide financing to criminal organizations through illegal betting activities continues with determination.

Giving information about the illegal betting investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gürlek noted that an operation was carried out against 79 suspects and 23 companies in 18 provinces based in Ankara. Stating that the structures that provide software and call center support for illegal betting activities and money movements for laundering crime proceeds through companies and crypto assets were examined, Gürlek stated that according to the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) report, the suspicious transaction volume was determined to be 21 billion 319 million lira.

Gürlek reported that 55 suspects were detained during the operation, efforts are continuing to capture 24 suspects, and trustees were appointed to 23 companies within the scope of the investigation.

Gürlek stated that in the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the people recruited through social media and messaging groups were directed to criminal activities, and stated that studies were carried out in 30 provinces centered in Istanbul.

Noting that the operation was carried out against a total of 100 people, 34 of whom were children in the judicial process, Gürlek announced that 87 suspects, 31 of whom were children in the judicial process, were detained, and that the procedures for the capture of 13 fugitives were continuing.

Gürlek stated that in the illegal betting investigation coordinated by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was carried out in 5 provinces against 12 suspects, whose bank accounts had a total transaction volume of 1 billion lira in the last month, and that 8 suspects were caught and the search for 4 people was continuing.
