Interesting petitions written to the Turkish Grand National Assembly
TBMM'ye yazılan ilginç dilekçeler

1426 applications were made to the commission last month. While 196 of the petitions came from women, the most applications were made on issues related to "application procedures to the commission, justice services, labor and social security fields".

While an average of 48 petitions were sent to the commission daily, the cities with the most applications were Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, respectively.

A person who applied to the Petition Commission requested that a legal regulation be made in order to limit the alimony to a certain period according to the duration of the marriage and the situation of the parties, to protect the alimony for the children and to provide social assistance to the needy people by the state at the end of the alimony period.

Some citizens also wrote petitions to the commission for legal regulations on various issues.

Among the applications, there were requests for legal regulations such as imposing a maximum penalty on those who hire hitmen and instigating murder, holding the relatives of the victims responsible for material and moral damages, making a legal regulation that would require wage information to be included in job advertisements, determining the annual leave period of workers as 6 weeks, and providing severance pay in case of resignation.

Some of the notable requests coming to the Petition Commission are as follows:

"Allocating appropriate areas in all public institutions where citizens of the Alevi faith can perform their prayers and faith practices, taking into consideration the special prayer times of all faith groups in class hours and working arrangements, enacting a law on social media bullying against women, reducing the undergraduate programs in universities to 3 years, increasing the undergraduate programs in the field of health to 6 years, granting the right to green passports to citizens aged 60 and over, connecting all municipalities across the country to a higher institution such as the 'General Directorate of Municipality', citizens submitting laws to the Turkish Grand National Assembly by reaching a certain number of signatures." "Making arrangements that will enable people to submit proposals (the right to public enterprise), connecting Ankara to Tekirdağ, and providing a salary after discharge to the person whose psychology deteriorated during his military service."

The GNAT Petition Commission, chaired by AK Party Adana Deputy Sunay Karamık, plays an active role in resolving the problems of citizens and institutions and meeting their demands. The commission, which examines the requests, directly contacts the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Presidency and relevant institutions to ensure that the problems stated in the petitions are resolved and the demands are met.
