Mandatory winter tire application starts on November 15
Within the scope of the regulations made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the use of winter tires is mandatory for all commercial vehicles between 15 November and 15 April. For private cars, the use of winter tires is recommended, although it is not a legal requirement.
Businesses that do not install winter tires on their vehicles, even though it is mandatory, will be fined.
Preparations for the circular regarding the mandatory winter tire application by the Ministry of Internal Affairs are continuing. The circular in question will be sent to 81 provincial governorships for implementation.
With the start of the rains, tire changing efforts also intensified.
The tire removal and installation process is carried out as 1500 liras for 13, 14 and 15-inch wheels, 1750 liras for 16 and 17-inch wheels, 2000 liras for 18-inch wheels, 2250 liras for 19-inch wheels, 2500 liras for 20-inch wheels and 3000 liras for 21-inch wheels.
The tire hotel fee is the same as the fee for changing four tires.
Tire selection plays an important role in ensuring safe driving in vehicles. Switching to winter tires is important to maintain road grip, especially when the temperature drops below 7 degrees.
Summer tires, which harden in cold weather conditions, cannot provide sufficient grip on snowy and icy roads. This may cause the braking distance to increase, the vehicle to skid, and the driver to lose steering control.
