Minister Çiftçi: There is no way to crime in Istanbul for the whole of Türkiye

In his statement on his social media account, Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi stated that they held a Security Meeting at the Istanbul Police Department, where all aspects of the fight against new generation criminal organizations were discussed.

Ciftci stated that Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General İdris Tataroğlu and the managers of operational units, especially the Fight Against Organized Crimes, Public Order, Cyber ​​Crimes, Narcotic Crimes branch managers attended the meeting and stated that they evaluated the results of the operations against criminal organizations, the structuring of the organizations, their areas of activity and methods of committing crimes.

"In 2026, 190 operations were carried out against new generation criminal organizations in Istanbul within the scope of Article 220 of the TCK, 2 thousand 67 suspects were caught and 1545 suspects were arrested. As a result of our determined struggle, there was a 49 percent decrease in the shooting incidents at homes and workplaces in Istanbul compared to the previous year. 93.5 percent of the shooting incidents that occurred were clarified.

At our meeting, we also discussed our road map to narrow down the area of ​​action of organized crime organizations by discussing the new projects and operational strategies we will implement in the coming period. Our goal is clear: to neutralize not only the members of criminal organizations, but also all the structures that keep them alive. "We will continue our uninterrupted fight against criminal organizations that threaten the peace and security of our nation in Istanbul and all over our country."
