Minister Fidan will go to the USA for the G20 Meeting

According to information obtained from Ministry of Foreign Affairs sources; Minister Fidan is expected to address the sessions titled "Geopolitical Tensions", "Energy" and "Supply Chains" within the framework of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting.

In his speech, Minister Fidan is expected to emphasize the importance of the international community increasing its pressure on Israel, as Israel targets international efforts to achieve peace in Gaza with its ongoing attacks and uncompromising attitude.

Minister Fidan, who is expected to state that Turkey wishes the conflict between the USA and Iran to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, and that the continuation of the conflicts triggers vulnerabilities in the region, said that targeting ships and energy infrastructures in the Black Sea, the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf region negatively affects global energy, food security and trade; points out that maintaining freedom of navigation and security in strategic waterways is of vital importance; It is expected to draw attention to the risks posed by the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, which have intensified and spread to new areas, and to note that Turkey is in contact with both sides to ensure the re-establishment of security in the Black Sea.

Minister Fidan is also expected to state that Turkey continues its efforts to contribute to the resolution of current conflicts and strengthening security and stability in its region, in line with its understanding of regional ownership, and to emphasize the importance of establishing constructive cooperation with international partners in this context.

Turkey assumed the G20 Term Presidency on 1 December 2014. In this context, the G20 Leaders Summit was held in Antalya on 15-16 November 2015.

Within the framework of Turkey's G20 Term Presidency; The fight against terrorism and the refugee crisis were made part of the official G20 Leaders Summit agenda for the first time as political issues, and G20 Leaders adopted a declaration on the fight against terrorism for the first time.

Additionally, the refugee crisis was included in a strong paragraph in the Antalya Summit Final Declaration. W20 (Women-20), one of the G20 initiative groups aiming to empower women economically and socially, was established during Turkey's Term Presidency.

The USA took over the G20 Term Presidency from the Republic of South Africa on December 1, 2025.
