Minister Gürlek: Our priority in fund investigations is to protect the rights of well-intentioned investors

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement about the fund investigations on his social media account.

Minister Gürlek stated that the rights of citizens will be protected and said, "I want our citizens to know that we will continue to follow the process to protect the rights of our well-intentioned investors and to fulfill the requirements of the law against those responsible."

Akın Gürlek's full statement is as follows:

"In line with the will of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we carefully observe the distinction between opportunists and well-intentioned investors in fund investigations. We meticulously follow the investigations carried out in order to protect the trust in the capital markets, to secure the rights and savings of our citizens and to reveal illegal gains.

There will be no doubt about the legal nature of voluntary refunds made within the scope of fund investigations.

Voluntary return does not, by itself, eliminate the legal liability of any natural or legal person. These refunds, which contribute to redressing grievances, do not constitute an obstacle to the conduct of investigations and the evaluation of evidence.

Our priority is to deliver the refunded amounts to the real beneficiaries. In this context, the source, time, amount and method of delivery of the refunds to the real rights holders will be carefully examined; Allegations about the relevant persons and transactions will also be evaluated legally in the light of the evidence obtained.

Within the scope of the investigations carried out by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, protection measures have been implemented for the assets of real and legal persons who are considered to be connected to the transactions subject to investigation in order to prevent the abduction, transfer or concealment of their assets and to secure the rights of our well-intentioned investors.
