Minister Şimşek: Financial transparency will increase further with reforms
According to the IMF's Financial Transparency Assessment, Turkey ranked highest among approximately 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria and Portugal, with the progress it has made in public financial management in recent years.
Reminding that the Fiscal Transparency Assessment, which examines Türkiye's practices in the fields of financial statistics, budget management, financial risks and accountability, was published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Şimşek said:
"In the evaluation in 2015, while Turkey was at the good or advanced level of implementation in approximately half of the principles in the Financial Transparency Code, this rate increased to two-thirds. Thus, our country ranked at the top in financial transparency among approximately 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria and Portugal. This important success is a concrete result of the institutional transformation that has been ongoing for more than 20 years. Our work on structural reforms that will further increase financial transparency continues."3
