New support program for retirees is on the way

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signaled new steps to improve the situation of retirees with his statement following the Cabinet meeting.

"I have sincerely stated many times before that we are aware of the difficulties experienced by our retirees. We have always tried to be constructive on this issue and to do our best at the expense of forcing the conditions. Hopefully, we are creating the financial means in the 2027 budget that will improve the situation of our retirees, who are our crown jewel. We hope to implement the needed legal regulation within the framework of justice and equity, with the discretion of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, by the end of the year."

All eyes are on the steps to be taken within the scope of the 2027 budget.

According to information obtained from AK Party sources; In addition to the increase in pensions, the addition of a welfare share will also be evaluated.

A complementary regulation for the lowest pension is being considered.

The regulation will be handled by taking into account the budget possibilities of the Social Security Institution (SGK).

There are 27.5 million premium-paying employees and 18 million retirees in Turkey. Studies were carried out in different cities for retirees and regional needs were identified.

The needs of working retirees and those who cannot work will be examined separately. First of all, it may be possible to determine a common lower limit for everyone, and then to make some additional payments to those with the lowest pension.
