New system for pensions is on the table

Following the statements of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the technical studies initiated by the AK Party have come to an end. Within the scope of the analyzes initiated and detailed in the summer months, a comprehensive classification was made regarding the socioeconomic status of retirees.

Retirees within the scope of the study; They were examined in different categories: those who continue their working life, those who are over 65 years of age, and those whose basic salary is supplemented to the base salary. Criteria such as the number of premium payment days and the number of dependents were also included in the evaluations.

AK Party sources stated that these analyzes will be taken as a basis for salary increases in the new period and additional welfare share payments planned to be made.

With the new model, a higher rate of increase is envisaged for citizens whose income remains at the lowest pension limit because they have been receiving a pension for a long time, even though the number of premium days is high. Thus, it is aimed to eliminate premium inequality and establish a balanced structure in the system.

Another important topic of the draft study is the minimum pension. While increasing the base monthly amount is on the agenda, a salary increase in line with the inflation rate is planned for all retirees.

The bill containing the regulations in question is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament after the budget marathon in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is completed.
