Numan Kurtulmuş: The process is working smoothly

Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Kurtulmuş met with the Speaker of the Luxembourg House of Representatives, Claude Wiseler, who paid an official visit to Türkiye, in the Parliament.

Welcoming his counterpart Wiseler upon his arrival at the Parliament, Kurtulmuş shook hands with Wiseler in front of the flags of Türkiye and Luxembourg. Later, the two parliamentary speakers held a one-on-one meeting and chaired the meeting between the delegations.

After the meetings, Kurtulmuş and Wiseler held a joint press conference at the Turkish Grand National Assembly Ceremony Hall.

Kurtulmuş expressed his pleasure in hosting Wiseler and his delegation at the Turkish Grand National Assembly and stated that they discussed bilateral relations and exchanged ideas about the developments in Turkey's region and Europe.

Stating that they have held the necessary negotiations regarding Türkiye's European Union (EU) relations, Kurtulmuş said, "Luxembourg is one of the European friendly countries that has supported Türkiye's EU membership process from the very beginning. Therefore, I consider it my duty to thank them openly once again." he said.

TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş noted that during their meetings, they also discussed the security problems in the European continent, especially the Ukraine-Russia war, the possible development course of the EU in the future, and common security issues that concern all parts of Europe.

Pointing out that Turkey has always said that the solution to all problems in the region is primarily through diplomacy and that there is no right way other than keeping the path of peace open through negotiations, Kurtulmuş said that Türkiye has continued to play a strong mediator role in the Ukraine-Russia war from the beginning.

Kurtulmuş stated that the peace negotiations in Istanbul Dolmabahçe regarding the Ukrainian-Russian war in 2022 could not be concluded because some countries thought that the continuation of this war would benefit their own national interests.
