The teams of the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch Directorate and the Intelligence Branch Directorate carried out a large-scale study to decipher the new generation criminal organizations under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
During the investigations, it was determined that the criminal organization, led by a person who was a fugitive abroad and had a search warrant against him with a red notice, had recruited hitmen via social media to use in their actions.
It was determined that the suspects were included in established WhatsApp groups and directed to commit criminal acts and that they were preparing to take action on behalf of the organization.
In order to capture the suspects, whose identities were revealed after technical and physical follow-up, simultaneous raids were organized in 30 provinces centered in Istanbul, including Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, Adana, Gaziantep, Mersin, Samsun, Trabzon, Şanlıurfa, Van and Diyarbakır.
Within the scope of the operation, 85 suspects, including people with search records for various crimes, were caught and detained.
It was reported that the statements of the suspects who were taken to the police are continuing, and the investigation into the activities of the organized crime group continues in many aspects.
