Operation against the gang who made profit with vehicles damaged in the earthquake
According to the statement made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order was issued for 14 people who carried out the "change" process by replacing the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicles heavily damaged in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes with those of vehicles brought illegally from abroad.
Within the scope of the studies carried out by Ankara Provincial Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate teams, it was determined that the suspects purchased heavily damaged vehicles on behalf of themselves or their relatives, sold these vehicles to third parties through the "exchange" method, and laundered the proceeds of crime by acquiring assets in the names of their spouses, siblings, mothers and other third parties.
In simultaneous operations carried out in Ankara, Tokat and Kırşehir, 12 of the 14 suspects for whom detention orders were issued within the scope of Article 282 of the Turkish Penal Code were captured.
During the investigation, assets worth approximately 183 million lira, which were considered to have resulted from crime, were seized. During the searches, 1 unlicensed gun was seized.
