President Erdoğan: We will continue to mediate for fair solutions

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a video message to the 9th Istanbul Mediation Conference.

Congratulating the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its contribution to the organization of the conference, President Erdoğan said, "I am pleased that Istanbul, which has brought people and cultures together for centuries, has become one of the centers of diplomacy today." he said.

In his message, President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of not giving up on diplomacy:

"We are going through a period when conflicts on a global scale are increasing, tensions are escalating, and trust in international law and institutions is shaken. As Turkey, we have adopted it as our motto to never give up on diplomacy in such a period, even when the parties do not talk to each other and hopes diminish.

Today, we are striving to pave the way to peace with the gains we have achieved in a wide geography, from the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine to our mediation efforts in the African continent.

President Erdoğan reiterated the message "The world is bigger than 5":

Dear participants, we recently held the United Nations General Assembly with the theme of 'Restoring Trust', focusing on restoring trust in the international system. Today, millions of people in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan and other crisis areas who pinned their hopes on the United Nations are deeply disappointed. It is a fact that; "A structure in which the will of more than 190 countries depends on the whims of 5 countries is neither fair nor able to fully establish trust."

"As Türkiye, we do not accept an understanding of international politics based on distrust." President Erdoğan said, "We believe that there is a door for diplomacy even in the most difficult conflicts. The point is to show the will, courage and sincerity to keep that door open. At this point, we will continue to bring the parties together for peace, mediate for fair solutions and assume responsibility." he said.
