Reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities of submarines will increase with ASELSAN MERCAN 100
According to the statement made by ASELSAN, MERCAN 100 Submarine Optronic Mast System enables the detection, tracking and recognition of targets in difficult sea conditions with its advanced imaging capabilities.
MERCAN 100 brings together high-performance medium-wave infrared (MWIR), day vision (Day TV) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) cameras in a single structure to provide multi-spectral imaging in different operational conditions.
By combining these different imaging technologies, the system allows submarine crews to observe their surroundings and collect critical visual information in changing light and environmental conditions.
While the system improves target positioning with its eye-safe laser rangefinder and optical distance measurement capabilities, it also supports effective reconnaissance and surveillance with its advanced imaging functions.
Designed to offer a comprehensive view of the environment, MERCAN 100 features a 360-degree panoramic "Fast Environmental Surveillance" feature as well as a "sectoral scanning" mode for focused observation. Thanks to these functions, the crew is allowed to scan the environment efficiently, detect potential targets, and continue tracking and positioning missions.
The system's advanced electro-optical sensors provide timely information for submarine operations, increasing situational awareness and helping the crew create a clearer picture of the marine environment.
Combining its powerful system architecture with a structure that can withstand harsh sea and weather conditions, MERCAN 100 can be adapted to different submarine platforms.
The system also offers the option of integration with Combat Management Systems (CMS), allowing its capabilities to be incorporated into the submarine's broader operational architecture. The system, which also includes a GPS/Electronic Support (ED) antenna, significantly increases the reconnaissance and surveillance potential of submarine platforms.
