The 103rd anniversary of the Republic is celebrated with enthusiasm
The first ceremony was held in Anıtkabir as part of the celebrations of 29 October Republic Day and the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. The ceremony started with the dignitaries walking on the Road of Lions.
After President Erdoğan left the wreath with a crescent and a star on it at Atatürk's mausoleum, a moment of silence was observed and the National Anthem was sung.
Later, President Erdoğan and the dignitaries involved in the protocol went to the National Pact Tower. President Erdoğan wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book:
"Dear Atatürk, today we are celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the establishment of our Republic, for which we paid a great price. On this important day that draws a new direction in our history, I remember you, your comrades in arms, and our heroic martyrs with gratitude. We are in an intense struggle on different fronts to lead the Republic of Turkey, together with its state and nation, to a prosperous and victorious future.
In your Excellency's address to the Grand National Assembly dated March 1, 1922, when the Republic had not yet been declared, your Excellency said: 'No means, no force can be considered that would deter us from following our national cause. In the light of the words 'Our national cause is our life', we will continue to work determinedly until we reach the goal of the Türkiye Century, which we see as our national cause. May your soul rest in peace."
Citizens of all ages waiting at the entrance of Anıtkabir came before Atatürk with Atatürk posters and Turkish flags. Some of the visitors left flowers at Atatürk's mausoleum, observed a moment of silence, and some recited prayers. Citizens did not forget to take photos to immortalize their visit.
Kezban Karapınar, who came from Istanbul with her family, said that they wanted to be in Anıtkabir on the 103rd anniversary of the declaration of the Republic. Expressing that he was very happy, proud and excited, Karapınar said that Atatürk's existence, his memory and his gift of the Republic to the Turkish people were very valuable.
Kürşat Ünal, 9, who visited Anıtkabir with his brother Bengü Ünal, said, "I came to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I love her so much.”
