The harmonization process between Türkiye and the EU in machinery safety legislation has been completed.
In the written statement made by the Ministry, it was stated that the legislative harmonization studies carried out as a requirement of the Türkiye-EU Customs Union were concluded under the initiatives and leadership of the Ministry.
In the statement, it was emphasized that the machinery sector plays a strategic role for the Turkish economy and said, "Our machinery sector has strategic importance for our country's economy and our commercial relations with the EU, with its annual exports to the EU exceeding 10 billion dollars and its share of over 10 percent in our total exports to the EU." The expression was used.
In this context, it has become possible to appoint notified bodies in our country and for our machinery exporters to carry out conformity assessment and certification procedures in our country under equivalent conditions with manufacturers in EU member countries. Thus, a significant gain has been achieved in facilitating the technical and administrative processes faced by our machinery exporters in reaching the EU market, minimizing the costs and administrative burdens arising from certification and increasing the competitiveness of our sector.
We hope that this development, which constitutes an important step in terms of strengthening the effective functioning of the Türkiye-EU Customs Union and deepening the integration of our industry with the EU Single Market, will be beneficial to all our machinery industrialists and exporters. As the Ministry of Commerce, we will continue to resolutely defend the interests of our companies on every platform and work to achieve concrete gains that will increase the competitiveness of our exporters.
