Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu gave information about the share allocated to railways in the 2027 budget of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the works to be carried out.

Emphasizing that investments in this area will be accelerated by giving priority to lines that will connect industrial zones, logistics centers and ports to the railway network, Uraloğlu said, "We will continue our investments to provide safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation services on railways. In this context, we will increase the share of double-track railway length in the total main line to 22 percent in 2027, 24 percent in 2028 and 25 percent in 2029." spoke.

Uraloğlu said that they plan to complete the Ankara-Istanbul T26 Tunnel, Konyaray 2nd Stage, Konyaray 3rd Stage, Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep, Ankara-İzmir (Polatlı-Afyon section), Filyos Junction Line, Çukurova Junction Line and Halkalı-Ispartakule projects in 2027.

Pointing to the railway line length targets, Uraloğlu said, "We plan to increase our railway line to 14 thousand 913 kilometers next year. In addition, we aim to increase Türkiye's railway line length to 15 thousand 989 kilometers in 2028 and 16 thousand 929 kilometers in 2029."

Referring to increasing the share of railway passenger transportation in total transportation, Uraloğlu said that they plan to increase this share to 6.99 percent next year, 7.6 percent in 2028 and 7.65 percent in 2029.

Stating that studies are being carried out to provide safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation services on railways, and that they will continue investments to increase the length of high-speed train lines next year, Uraloğlu said:

"We aim to increase the length of our country's high-speed train lines to 3 thousand 244 kilometers next year, to 4 thousand 98 kilometers in 2028 and to 5 thousand 389 kilometers in 2029. We always continue our investments to expand the railway infrastructure and develop the transportation sector. Expansion of high-speed train networks is at the center of Türkiye's railway investments in the future. For this, approximately 515 billion lira will be invested in railway transportation next year. "It is envisaged that this figure will be increased to more than 622 billion lira in 2028, and to approximately 748 billion lira in 2029."

Emphasizing that they continue to work to develop combined transportation and logistics services in a free, fair and sustainable competitive environment, Uraloğlu explained that they also carry out projects to ensure the safe transportation of dangerous goods by land, sea, rail and air.
