There is no example in the world: LÜFER is coming to change the equation

Türkiye is preparing to write a success story similar to the one it wrote in unmanned aerial vehicles, in unmanned sea platforms. At this point, although we see different examples above water, examples under water, which is considered an extremely strategic area, are limited.

The role played by the defense industry company DATUM, which continues its activities within Istanbul Technical University (ITU), at this point is very important for the near future. It is certain that we will hear the names of DATUM and the systems they developed, signed by LÜFER and KOFANA, who successfully completed the tasks assigned to them in the recently held unmanned systems exercise TURNAs-2026...

Its 15 km fiber optic cable enables LÜFER to successfully complete its mission even in areas where electronic warfare is used most intensively.

Emphasizing that LÜFER may enter the inventory in the near future, Özden says that there will be a serious demand from abroad for the product, which can be easily dropped from a ship, helicopter, rubber boat or a point on land.

Another vehicle used by DATUM in the TURNAs-2026 exercise is KOFANA... In its simplest definition, it is a remote-controlled wire-guided mine carrier. It is a platform that can take Turkey's local/national smart bottom mine MALAMAN to the desired point. It can be easily controlled from the same console as LÜFER.

Münir Cansın Özden underlines that KOFANA, with a range of 80 km, will be a highly deterrent force. He informs that the DATUM multi-purpose mini submarine project, supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries, is continuing at full speed and emphasizes that Turkey will achieve very important successes in a highly strategic field such as underwater.
