A new era in defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Qatar

According to the statement made by the Presidency of Defense Industries, during the meeting held within the scope of the contacts between Turkey and Qatar to deepen their cooperation in the field of defense industry, cooperation opportunities for developing the defense industry partnership between the two countries, implementing new joint projects and increasing technology and production capabilities were evaluated.

The visit was held following the Badr Defense Industry Memorandum of Understanding signed between Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan and Indonesia.

The agreement, which aims to strengthen technology development, research and development and technical cooperation in the defense industry, aims to advance the existing capabilities of the party countries and pave the way for the implementation of new joint projects.

In this context, it is envisaged that the bilateral contacts between Turkey and Qatar will contribute to transforming the will for multilateral cooperation into concrete projects and taking the defense industry partnership between the two countries to a further level.

Stating that the contacts with Qatar continued after the Badr Agreement, Haluk Görgün made the following evaluations:

"This visit, which is a continuation of the common will we put forward with the agreement, is important for the steps we will take together in the coming period. We aim to strengthen the technology and production capabilities of our countries and deepen our defense industry partnership with joint projects."

Görgün also thanked Qatar Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud Al Thani and his accompanying delegation for their visit and their contributions to defense industry cooperation.
