Türkiye's 2040 energy route: 70 percent share in renewables

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Türkiye aims to provide approximately 70 percent of its energy from renewable sources in 2040 and said, "With National Energy 2040, we foresee billions of dollars of investment in electricity production and infrastructure."

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the "National Energy 2040" vision, which reveals Türkiye's new energy architecture, will be announced to the public before the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) to be held in Antalya.

Minister Bayraktar will announce the details of Türkiye's new road map in the field of energy at the launch to be held at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office in Istanbul tomorrow.

Senior managers of public and private sector organizations, representatives of non-governmental organizations and managers of national and international media organizations will participate in the program.

Commenting on the "National Energy 2040" vision before the launch, Bayraktar stated that the world has recently faced various challenges in many areas, especially in energy.

Bayraktar stated that they prepared the new energy vision by taking into account Türkiye's future needs and targets in the light of global developments and said, "In line with the Turkey Century vision, we are working with the goal of 'Fully Independent Turkey in Energy'. Our goal of full independence in energy requires us to transform the whole system together, from production to transmission, from distribution to consumption." he said.

Pointing out that the demand for electricity is increasing in Türkiye as well as all over the world, Bayraktar stated that electrification will be at the center of the "National Energy 2040" vision and said:

"The demand for electricity is increasing in our country as well as all over the world. In this context, electrification will be at the center of our new energy architecture. We are entering a new era in which the use of electricity will increase in all areas of our economy, from industry to transportation, from buildings to agriculture. We will increase electrification in every field."
