Türkiye will increase its competition in foreign trade with new FTAs
According to the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, next year, the development of strategic, economic and commercial relations, the implementation of necessary regulations in trade agreements in line with Türkiye's interests, and the conduct of bilateral, regional and multilateral trade diplomacy will continue.
In this context, policies aimed at ensuring market diversity in goods and services exports, especially the "Remote Countries Strategy", will be continued. Increasing cooperation with the countries determined within the framework of the strategy, and continuing fair participation and promotional activities for these countries will be ensured.
Türkiye's preferential trade network will be strengthened, new free trade agreements will be negotiated and efforts to expand the scope of existing free trade agreements will continue.
Steps will be taken to integrate Turkish companies into regional and global value chains and increase their position in the preferential trade agreements (TTAs) that Türkiye will sign or expand their scope. Inter-country dialogue will be strengthened on bilateral platforms in order to improve companies' access to markets and ensure that they work in a fair competitive environment.
Attempts will be made on the basis of market access policies to reactivate the previously suspended Türkiye-Syria FTA.
The focus will be on continuing FTA negotiations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Japan. While the first round of FTA negotiations with Canada is expected to be held in Ankara between November 30 and December 4 this year, the negotiations will continue next year with the focus on Türkiye's market entry policies.
The entry into force process of the Türkiye-Maldives TTA will be completed. TTA negotiations with Algeria and Indonesia will also continue on the basis of market access policies.
Diplomatic, commercial and economic relations with these countries will be further strengthened within the framework of the African initiative.
