Türkiye will increase the number of geographically indicated products registered in the EU to 80

According to the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, it is aimed to develop an innovative idea environment in the field of intellectual property rights, to effectively protect the rights of rights holders at home and abroad, and to create an innovative and value-added global brand with the supports to be implemented.

In this regard, training modules and contents will be determined in cooperation with relevant institutions and organizations and certified trainings will be organized. National level competitions, exhibitions and events will be held for students. Physical and online training will be provided regarding the industrial property consultancy unit, and their qualifications will be increased by carrying out cooperation activities. Certified training programs at various levels will be prepared and put into effect by the Copyright Training Center.

Training events will be organized for stakeholders regarding judicial processes. The Education for Sustainable Living Project will be prepared and published as story books, animations and cartoons. Activities will be carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of higher education students on patent research.

Industrial property training will be provided to Technology Development Zones (TGB) and managing companies. Master's and doctoral theses written in the field of copyright will be compiled within a certain systematic and made available to researchers.

Training, information and awareness-raising activities will be organized in order to raise public awareness about plant breeders' rights and raise the level of awareness. Public awareness activities will be carried out in cooperation with chambers of commerce and tradesmen.

Inventors will be given the opportunity to exhibit their inventions at the stands to be opened by TURKPATENT at national and international fairs.

Technical support will be provided to institutions that will apply for EU registration of geographically indicated products regarding the preparation of applications. Pilot products will be determined locally, product representatives will be given training on branding and a road map will be prepared for this.

Statistical data will be collected to identify the products with the highest export potential to the EU. With the work to be done, the number of registered geographical indications in the EU will also be increased.
