5 products registered in Hatay were introduced

A promotional program was organized at Antakya Gastronomy Bazaar for lentil vaccine, Antakya sasiço, mortadella dish, halva hattus and Damascus dessert, which were given a geographical indication certificate with the initiative of Hatay Governorship.

In his speech here, Governor Mustafa Masatlı said that Hatay is an ancient city with thousands of years of civilization, different cultures and beliefs.

Stating that the city has hosted different cultures throughout history, Masatlı stated that this richness has important values in terms of living habits and especially gastronomy, as well as historical artifacts.

Emphasizing that they see geographical indications as a national issue, Governor Masatlı said:

"While it was a province with 25 geographical indications on February 5, 2023, as of today, we have registered 5 more geographical indications, reaching 75 geographical indications. On February 5, we were the 25th in Turkey, and today we are the 3rd in Turkey. We have ongoing applications and products awaiting registration. Hopefully, we will follow them and our goal is to make this ancient city the first in Türkiye."

Masatlı wished that the new registered products would be beneficial to Turkish and world gastronomy.

At the end of the program, Provincial Planning and Coordination Director Mustafa Organization presented the geographical indication documents to Governor Masatlı and other protocol members.
