Game-changing project in Gaziantep: Eye to eye with lions
The Natural Life Park, established by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality in 2001 in the Burç Forest on an area of approximately 1 million square meters, hosts approximately 7,500 animals from 350 species.
The park, which is Türkiye's largest and one of the world's leading zoos with its surface area and species diversity, welcomes visitors who want to see different animal species up close.
An area resembling the natural habitat of lions was prepared on the Predator Island, which was created in an area of approximately 5 thousand square meters in the park.
On the island, which is landscaped with greenery, rocky elevations and wide walking areas, living conditions have been created where lions can exhibit their natural behavior.
In sections with only a glass wall between them and the lions, visitors can watch the animals' movements, interactions with each other and their daily lives from a few steps away.
On the island, where there are a total of 14 lions, 4 young lions, 2 females and 2 males, aged 1.5 years, attract attention with their activity.
In the area, which is particularly popular with children, visitors use their mobile phones to watch the lions wandering just on the other side of the glass.
Necati Kartal, who came from Istanbul, stated that he liked Yırtıcı Island very much and thanked Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin for her contribution to the project.
