Balloons took off in Cappadocia to raise awareness of cervical cancer
Within the scope of the event organized by the Turkish Gynecological Oncology Association and the Turkish Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy Association with the support of the European Gynecological Oncology Association, physicians and academicians came together at the balloon take-off area in Nevşehir's Göreme town.
President of the European Gynecological Cancer Prevention Association, Prof. Dr. Murat Gültekin stated to the journalists that they organized the event to draw attention to the fact that cervical cancer can be prevented.
Noting that they want to raise awareness about early diagnosis of gynecological cancers, Gültekin said:
"Cervical cancer is the only preventable cancer type in the world, and in this sense, the World Health Organization has made an excellent program regarding vaccination and screening. We came to Cappadocia and are holding the European Congress of HPV here. Cappadocia is a place identified with balloons. By raising awareness here, we say that cervical cancer is a preventable cancer. We will fly with balloons in Cappadocia. We will emphasize together that HPV in the air is a preventable cancer."
After the doctors and academics boarded, the balloons rose into the sky and flew over the valleys covered with fairy chimneys for about an hour.
