CİMER became a bridge to dreams: Autistic Osman Marmaray realized his dream
This time, the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER) became a bridge to make 8-year-old Osman's dream come true.
An application was made to CİMER by his mother for Osman, who has autism spectrum disorder. The mother stated that her son Osman has great admiration for public transportation, especially Marmaray, and that he knows the station names, stop orders and announcements by heart, and that this is why they often travel with her son on Marmaray.
In her application, the mother wrote, "My request from you is to travel and observe in the driver's cabin during a journey. He is extremely curious about the driver part. If it is an appropriate request, I look forward to your positive response."
Upon the application of CIMER, the relevant units of Marmaray Passenger Service Directorate took action. The family was contacted and a special program was planned for Osman. Osman and his family were invited to Marmaray Halkalı Station, where they were hosted, toured the station and wagons, and took a short trip on the Halkalı-Yeşilköy line and received detailed information about the train.
The most meaningful part of the program was Osman's visit to the driver's cabin, which he had dreamed of for a long time. Osman, who was taken into the cabin at a suitable moment when the train stopped, examined the driver's cabin, received information from the driver about how Marmaray was managed, what was done during the journey and the equipment in the cabin, and then sat in the driver's seat he had been dreaming of. The happiness Osman experienced at those moments gave emotional moments to both his family and the staff involved in the organization.
