He named the flower fly species he discovered after his son, who passed away in 1998.

Within the scope of the international study conducted by Hayat with scientists from Serbia's Novi Sad University, samples collected from Türkiye's Northeastern Anatolia Region and Georgia were examined.

As a result of taxonomic and systematic evaluations, the flower fly, which was determined to be a new species for the scientific world, was named "Orthonevra abdullahi".

The study, signed by 15 scientists from approximately 9 countries, was published in an international journal.

Stating that different methods are used in naming new living species, Hayat stated that the name of a valued person can be given to a new creature, and that the characteristics of the creature or the geographical name of the region where it was collected can also be used in naming.

Stating that she had been planning to give the name of her son Abdullah, who died in 1998, to an insect or another living creature for a long time, Hayat said, "The time has come for that. Therefore, I gave this name in reference to him. I included brief information about the origin of this name in the etymology section of the article." he said.

Stating that it is meaningful for her and her family that her son's name lives on in the world of science, Hayat said, "After death, it is as if that person is forgotten for a certain period of time. When he is out of sight, he is not remembered much, it is thought that his trace is erased after a certain period of time. I think that by following such a path, I ensured that his name would be a little more permanent and that his name would always have a place in the world of science." he said.

Stating that this situation is also happy for his family, Hayat said that the name Abdullah has a special place in his family.

Hayat said, "My late father's name was the same, my nephew's name was the same, and my son's name was the same. When they all came together, it had a different meaning." he said.
